Bata Pakistan Q4 profit climbs 16.7% YOY

Bata Pakistan Ltd. said its fourth-quarter normalized net income was 45.56 Pakistani rupees per share, a gain of 16.7% from 39.05 rupees per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 344.4 million rupees, an increase of 16.7% from 295.2 million rupees in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin climbed to 9.4% from 8.2% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue climbed year over year to 3.68 billion rupees from 3.59 billion rupees, and total operating expenses totaled 3.13 billion rupees, compared with 3.13 billion rupees in the year-earlier period.

Reported net income came to 403.1 million rupees, or 53.32 rupees per share, compared to 406.3 million rupees, or 53.74 rupees per share, in the prior-year period.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled 171.15 rupees per share, a gain of 15.5% from 148.19 rupees per share in the prior year.

Normalized net income was 1.29 billion rupees, a gain of 15.5% from 1.12 billion rupees in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue increased 7.4% year over year to 14.78 billion rupees from 13.77 billion rupees, and total operating expenses increased 6.1% year over year to 12.69 billion rupees from 11.96 billion rupees.

The company said reported net income increased 7.9% year over year to 1.45 billion rupees, or 191.20 rupees per share, in the full year, from 1.34 billion rupees, or 177.17 rupees per share.

As of April 13, US$1 was equivalent to 104.69 Pakistani rupees.
