Intesa Sanpaolo says no plans to hold EGM for Generali bid

Intesa Sanpaolo SpA denied media reports that it would convene an extraordinary general meeting over the weekend of Feb. 4 to discuss a bid for Generali, Reuters reported Feb. 2, citing an Intesa spokesperson.

Earlier, the Italian lender had confirmed media speculation that it was looking at a deal with Italy's largest insurer, and its CEO Carlo Messina said he saw room for growth by combining the two institutions.
