Annual inflation in Italy increased to 1.9% in EU-harmonized terms in July, in line with a flash estimate, from 1.4% in June, final data from the country's National Institute of Statistics showed.
Core harmonized inflation, which excludes energy and unprocessed food, came in at 1.1% in July, compared with 0.8% in the prior month.
Food, alcohol and tobacco prices rose 2.5% year over year following an annual increase of 2.6%, while energy prices climbed 8.0% after a 4.2% increase.
Month over month, harmonized consumer prices were down 1.4% in July, also in line with expectations.
