Berjaya Sports Toto fiscal Q3 profit falls YOY

Berjaya Sports Toto Berhad said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Jan. 31 amounted to 4 Malaysian sen per share, a decline of 46.4% from 7 sen per share in the prior-year period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 49.7 million ringgits, a decrease of 46.3% from 92.5 million ringgits in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 3.8% from 7.0% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue came to 1.32 billion ringgits, compared with 1.33 billion ringgits in the year-earlier period, and total operating expenses increased from the prior-year period to 1.24 billion ringgits from 1.19 billion ringgits.

Reported net income declined 44.2% year over year to 58.4 million ringgits, or 4 sen per share, from 104.6 million ringgits, or 8 sen per share.

As of March 18, US$1 was equivalent to 4.06 ringgits.
