As of the end of 2017, DTE Energy Co. upgraded over 2,100 miles of gas lines over the past five years, installing 165 miles of new mainline and about 330 miles of service lines in 2017 alone, as part of the company's infrastructure improvement program.
Under DTE Energy's Gas Renewal Program, its gas utility in 2017 also installed 20,000 advanced meters, while upgrading 72,000 meters in the Grand Rapids, Mich., and installing an additional mile of new mainline in Petoskey, Mich., through its other system improvement programs.
The projects also provided natural gas access to over 1,100 potential customers near Big Rapids, Traverse City, Petoskey and Grand Rapids through main pipeline extensions, according to a Dec. 22 news release.
