Italy's current account surplus rose to €5.87 billion in December 2017 from the revised €4.75 billion recorded a prior month earlier, the Bank of Italy said.
For the full year, the current account surplus reached €50.0 billion, or 2.9% of GDP, compared to €45.6 billion in 2016.
The increase in the annual current account surplus came as the surplus in the primary income balance rose to €11.1 billion from €5.0 billion, and the deficit in services fell to €1.8 billion from €2.8 billion. The surplus in goods trade fell to €56.7 billion in 2017 from €59.8 billion.
