BTIG LLC's research and strategy division has hired Gray Powell and Matthew VanVliet to launch coverage across the security and application software sectors.

Powell joined the company as a director in New York, focused on the security software sector. He was previously a director and senior analyst on Deutsche Bank AG's software team.

VanVliet joined BTIG as a vice president in Chicago, focused on the application software sector. Prior to joining, he was an associate vice president within equity research at Stifel Financial Corp.
