Donegal Mutual Insurance Co. has signed a deal that transfers its personal lines business in seven U.S. states to Safeco Insurance.

The company and several of its affiliates wrote approximately $25.0 million of personal lines premiums in Alabama, Maine, Nebraska, New Hampshire, North Carolina, South Carolina and South Dakota in 2017. That amount translates to approximately 2.6% of Donegal Mutual Insurance's overall premium writings.
