Fresnillo lifts full-year gold output guidance; production up YOY in Q2

Mexico-focused Fresnillo Plc lifted its full-year gold guidance as itsaw higher production in its precious and base metal products in the secondquarter, according to a July 20 statement.

The company raised its full-year gold guidance to 850,000ounces to 870,000 ounces, from 775,000 ounces to 790,000 ounces previously.Silver production remains on track for 49 million ounces to 51 million ounces.

Total silver production, including Silverstream, improvedyear over year by 14.5% to 13.0 million ounces mainly due to increased oreprocessed at Saucito and higher ore grades at . Gold output also wentup by 19.6%to 217,645 ounces due to a higher speed of recovery and higher orevolumes processed at Herradura, and a higher speed of recovery at .

These brought silver and gold production in the first halfto 25.2 million ounces and 447,569 ounces, respectively, higher than the 23.8million ounces and 364,020 ounces recorded in the same period in 2015.

Likewise, lead production went up 18.1% to 11,585 tonneswhile zinc increased 21.3% to 12,529 tonnes in the second quarter. These helpedboost first half output to 22,668 tonnes of lead, up 17.7% year over year, and25,380 tonnes of zinc, up 24.2%.
