Vedanta Ltd. on March 27 announced plans to close smelting operations at the Tuticorin copper project in India for approximately 15 days as part of a regular maintenance program.

The program had been slated to start in April.

"Refining and Copper rod manufacturing operations will continue as usual," the Vedanta Resources PLC unit said.
