A subsector index within the S&P Kensho New Economy Index Series, the S&P Kensho Alternative Finance Index intends to represent companies involved in building out next generation capabilities within financial services, including direct lending, crowdfunding, automated wealth management, usage or on-demand insurance services, and digital currencies and related capabilities. This landscape has expanded dramatically over the past few years, as the advent of crowdfunding and peer-to-peer lending has started to democratize the financial services arena.
