Real estate finance company Velocity Financial files for IPO

Real estate finance company Velocity Financial Inc. filed for an IPO of its common shares.

The proposed maximum aggregate offering price is $100 million, estimated solely for calculating the registration fee.

Velocity originates and manages investor loans that are secured by one- to four-unit residential rental and small commercial properties, according to its Form S-1. The company's loan portfolio stood at $1.7 billion as of June 30.

The company has applied to list its common shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the ticker VEL.

Velocity intends to use a portion of net proceeds to repay a portion of its outstanding debt. The remainder will be used for general corporate purposes, which include originating or acquiring investor real estate loans.

Wells Fargo Securities LLC, Citigroup Global Markets Inc., JMP Securities LLC and Raymond James & Associates Inc. are underwriters for the IPO.
