As portfolios become more complex, it is critical for private asset firms to have a consolidated view of their holdings across entities to support their decision-making. They also need to maintain a current snapshot of their portfolio data at the entity and fund level, along with an auditable history of any changes to the data. Many firms, including both limited and general partners, struggle to manage their data in this way due to their reliance on manual processes and multiple systems and data sources.
Our Enterprise Data Management (EDM) platform supports private asset firms by centralizing disparate data from different systems and sources across the enterprise. EDM links, matches, cleanses and applies rules and hierarchies to the data, creating a central master record of private asset data.
The consolidated private asset data can be viewed side-by-side with public asset data for a complete view of a firm’s holdings across private and public markets. Both private and public data can be segmented to understand the firm’s exposure based on different parameters, such as industry or geography. Additionally, the platform can link disparate issuer/party data to create a common view of these entities, providing greater transparency of potential exposure.
EDM’s look-through capabilities allow users to drill down on fund hierarchies to the underlying assets. Robust data lineage functionality provides transparency into where data came from, who touched it and which rules were applied.
EDM is integrated with our iLEVEL portfolio monitoring solution and is available as a managed service hosted on the Amazon Web Services (AWS) cloud.
EDM empowers users to make informed decisions by creating a complete view across their holdings in the public and private markets, as well as providing the ability to slice and dice data and look through to the underlying assets.
EDM creates a common view of issuers and parties which is linked to positions to provide greater transparency of exposures.
EDM mitigates operational risk by automating processes, such as reconciliation, which are managed manually at many organizations today.
Robust data validation functionality and customizable business rules increase users’ confidence in the data they use.
While users can review and interact with data sets in the platform, EDM also includes robust data distribution capabilities to feed downstream platforms.
S&P Global has extensive experience supporting private markets clients, including through the iLEVEL platform. This private markets expertise is reflected in how we approach the implementation of EDM.
