Recurrent Energy finds off-taker-planned Calif. solar project

Recurrent Energy LLC secured a buyer for the output of its planned 60-MW Tranquillity 8 Verde solar project in California, according to a Jan. 24 statement.

Sacramento Municipal Utility District agreed to purchase power from the Fresno County-based project for a 20-year term to help meet a state-mandated goal of increasing its renewable portfolio to 33% by 2020.

The Canadian Solar Inc. subsidiary plans to start construction of the project in mid-2017 and bring it online by early 2018. Tranquillity 8 Verde is part of the 200-MW Tranquillity 2-8 project, which holds PPAs with Marin Clean Energy, PG&E Corp. subsidiary Pacific Gas and Electric Co. and Edison International subsidiary Southern California Edison Co. for the remaining 140 MW.
