John Welling
Head of Global Equities & Thematic Indices
John Welling is Head of Global Equities & Thematic Indices at S&P Dow Jones Indices (S&P DJI). He leads a global team responsible for the development, management and strategic oversight of S&P DJI’s comprehensive suite of global equities and thematic index offerings. This includes flagship global benchmarks such as the S&P World Index, S&P Global 1200 and various regional and sustainability indices, as well as key thematic index families covering alternatives, tech, natural resources and the innovative S&P Kensho New Economies Indices.
Under John’s leadership, the Global Equities & Thematic Indices team drives strategy, fosters cross-functional collaboration and guides the continuous evolution and expansion of the firm’s equity and thematic product lines. He joined S&P DJI in 2017, bringing experience in structured products and financial innovation.
John holds a bachelor’s degree in business management from Brigham Young University. Outside of work, John enjoys skiing, trail running, cycling and spending quality time with his family.
