The S&P's Municipal Bond Washington Index is a broad, market value-weighted index that seeks to measure the performance of the U.S. municipal bond market. All bonds in the index are exempt from U.S. federal income taxes or subject to the alternative minimum tax. The state level municipal bond indices consist of bonds that have been issued by municipalities or municipal authorities.
