European Shipping Outlook: The Asia-Europe Trade
Carriers and forwarders operating in the Asia-Europe trade are reporting rising volume through their networks as economies on the continent begin their slow recovery from COVID-19 lockdowns.
As we move deeper into the traditional peak shipping season, concerns that cargo rollings would increase as rising volume overpowers available capacity are abating, with carriers cautiously reinstating blanked sailings and supplying extra loaders to pick up containers bumped off overbooked vessels. Yet even as demand increases, the threat of a second wave of coronavirus infections remains, with countries in Europe imposing targeted measures on affected cities and regions to combat sporadic outbreaks.
