Join S&P Global Mobility for our complimentary Toronto Client Briefing on Electrification of the Canadian Vehicle Fleet
Today in Canada, Zero Emission Vehicles (ZEVs) account for one
out of every eleven new light vehicles registered. Market Share of
ZEVs in 2022 increased to 8.9%, up from 5.6% in 2021. According to
the latest S&P Global Mobility Canadian Sales Based Powertrain
Forecast, released in March 2023, the National Market Share for
ZEVs is projected to continue to grow in 2023 to over 10% of the
new vehicle fleet of 1.61 million vehicles.
As electrification of our Canadian vehicle fleet continues this
upward trajectory to meet the Federal ZEV mandate of 100% new
vehicle sales by 2035, the market is in transition and is shifting
rapidly to respond.
Join S&P Global Mobility in Toronto on April 18th
as Canadian OEM EV innovators and influencers come together to
exchange dialogue on the state of the Canadian landscape, EV
Infrastructure and ZEV Mandates, with unique Government, Industry,
Utilities and Supplier perspectives.

9:15 AMSession 1: The Canadian Landscape – Driving to an Electric Vehicle Future
Recent investments in expanding electrification are set to
bolster light vehicle manufacturing in Canada as the industry moves
more aggressively towards producing BEVs. These policy actions and
investment shifts Canada towards expanding its automotive presence
in the North America.
We will explore these new investment activities and the
exciting new opportunities while outlining potential risks amid the
rapidly changing automotive landscape.
With policy makers, vehicle manufacturers, parts suppliers, and
aftermarket players anxious to understand the complexity and
implications of transitioning an internal combustion fleet to
electric vehicles, the technological complexities and consumer
concerns over adoption and affordability continue to be at the
forefront of the automotive industry.
S&P Global Mobility will provide a briefing on loosening
production short comings due to raw material constraints, our
macro-economic conditions, and our view to the vehicle sales
forecast for Canada.
Speakers:
Reinhard Schorsch, Executive Director, Automotive Planning
Solutions, S&P Global Mobility
10:40 AMSession 2: Charging Infrastructure Deployment and Consumer EV Adoption
Explore the global trend in electrification as it pertains to
the charging infrastructure with a focus on North America and
Canada. Results from S&P Global E-Mobility research will be
highlighted to show current consumer perceptions, as well as new
vehicle and infrastructure technologies and their impact on vehicle
charging. A future view on the state of Canadian EV infrastructure
in 2030 will be presented.
Is charging infrastructure still perceived as a bottleneck for
EV adoption?
How have consumer perceptions of the infrastructure ecosystem
changed with time?
What are important future considerations for charging
infrastructure?
Speaker:
Ian McIlravey, Consulting Associate Director, S&P Global
Mobility
11:00 AMSession 3: Electrification of Transportation - From the Utilities Perspective

transportation but there will be challenges and opportunities for
Canada's electrical utilities. Learn about how the utilities sector
is preparing.
What are the most significant challenges and opportunities in
power generation and in distribution?
Can our electrical grids be ready to manage this new load?
What are the infrastructure challenges and what will they
cost?

1:00 PMSession 4: Canada’s Action Plan for Clean On-Road Transportation
Announced in December 2022, the federal government Electric Vehicle policy states that all new passenger cars and light trucks sold in Canada in 2035 will be electric zero-emission vehicles. As the rates of ZEV vehicles are to be phased in over the next decade (20% in 2026 and 60% by 2030), multiple industries are working to understand their unique paths to understand, adjust and align. As the lead federal department on ZEVs in Canada, Transport Canada will present the big picture.
Speaker:
Paula Vieira, Director General, Environment Policy, Transport Canada
Comments by The Honourable Todd Smith, Minister of Energy, Ontario's Ministry of Energy
1:40 PMSession 5: Battery Electric Vehicles – From the Industry Perspective
The most significant transformation of the entire ecosystem
drives unprecedented risks and opportunities for both the OEMs and
the Suppliers. Learn more on how the industry is pivoting in this
new environment to meet the challenges and opportunities in both
the short and long term.
What are the dynamics of the shift of ICE to BEV from a
capability, opportunity, and cadence perspective?
Is global scale giving way to regional scale?
How will OEMs and Suppliers address the shift from a timing,
talent, capital, and risk perspective?
What will the new definition of winners and losers be?
