The 8th Automotive Technology International Executive Briefing [IEB AutoTech 2022] is an information exchange platform where key industry players: government agencies, local municipalities, manufacturers, suppliers, and automotive thought leaders convene to review policies, business models, and strategies, and at the same time, forge new partnerships.
The global sales volume was down by 3.69 million vehicles in July this year compared to last. Global auto demand remains vulnerable to ongoing pervasive uncertainty, reflecting general supply chain pressures, lingering impacts from the recent lockdowns in China, the ongoing Russia-Ukraine war, and the Chinese government’s auto stimulus plans. For semiconductors, signals remain mixed, with some automakers reporting an improved allocation while other players still struggle with a consistent supply of critical components. Other significant supply constraints remain, some related to the Ukraine crisis—key component disruptions, raw material shortages (especially palladium, platinum, and nickel), and energy price and supply concerns. The toxic combination of negative drivers can potentially reduce both the supply of and demand for vehicles across the forecast.
Beyond the negative impact on the global economy, there is also uncertainty about rebalancing energy security and the pace of decarbonization. The de-integration between Russia and Europe has started and will impact the mobility ecosystem profoundly in the months and years to come.
Other forces that are shaping the mobility world are climate change, disruptive technology, and changing customer preferences. Innovative technology gives rise to key trends such as diverse mobility, autonomy, electrification, and connectivity while the quest for minimizing the carbon footprint grows in momentum. While new business models and multi-modal transportation systems evolve, customers now have a wider choice of cross-vehicle mobility solutions and a seamless transition from private to public and from ownership to on-demand sharing services.
Join in the IEB AutoTech 2022 to join in the discussion on the critical elements that shape the mobility future. The co-organizer, the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun, reports on manufacturing innovation and has an industrial network as a media providing comprehensive coverage of industrial matters. There will be networking opportunities among like-minded professionals available both onsite and online.
The combined Essential Intelligence from S&P Global Mobility and the Nikkan Kogyo Shimbun will be mobilized to Accelerate Progress for our customers, partners, and other stakeholders in the rest of the mobility value chain.
