    In 2017 California collected nearly 5 billion dollars in motor fuel sales tax revenue. As electric vehicles grow in market share this revenue source could be reduced.
    How much have nations spent in fiscal and monetary responses to the COVID-19 crisis?
    Fifty-six nations have taken action to support their economies in the wake of the pandemic. So far (13 May 2020), over $4.6 trillion in fiscal spending has been approved. Policies designed to ease financial burdens include personal and business tax forbearance, payroll subsidies, expanded sick leave, self-employment support, business grants and other income support measures including direct payments. The United States alone has marshalled 10.5% of GDP or over $2.3 trillion to support the economy, representing almost half of total global efforts thus far.

    Anoop Desai

    Anoop Desai joined S&P Global in February 2016 and is Global Service Lead for xEV Scenario projects. Based in Europe, he is frequently involved in building e-mobility scenario environments for global markets including vehicle pricing, cost of ownership and regulatory compliance norms. While he is actively engaged in expanding the scenario models, he also leads advisory opportunities and projects for India. Anoop is an automobile engineer by profession and an avid auto-enthusiast. Before joining S&P Global, he worked in the domain of decision sciences, trained motorcycle service technicians, and interned with an automotive dealership in India.While at S&P Global, during 2017, Anoop completed his Master of Science in Automotive Management.

    Mark Hazel

    Mark is responsible for working with customers and sales colleagues to develop and grow the commercial product portfolio at S&P Global.     Tanja Linken

    Tanja Linken is responsible for consulting automotive OEMs in defining optimal retail networks, maximizing sales performance and service retention, and effectively managing dealerships. Her experience of 50+ dealer network optimization projects comprises mature and emerging markets likewise.     Michael was promoted to executive director of Automotive Advisory Services at S&P Global in December 2018 - driving industry thought leadership in the field of light vehicle automotive market dynamics and supplier strategy. From December 2011 to November 2018, he was the managing director leading the North American Automotive Advisory Team. Until late 2011, he served as the Director of Global Vehicle Production Forecasts from 1996. In his role as executive director in the global automotive advisory practice, Michael builds upon his experience as a leader and innovator in automotive research. He works with decision makers at suppliers and OEMs in the fields of supplier strategy/profitability, global production forecasting, tracking future product programs (FPPs), analyzing sourcing and production strategies to serve OEM, supplier and government entities throughout the global auto ecosystem.Michael has over three decades of experience in automotive forecasting, strategic analysis and manufacturing finance. Prior to joining CSM Worldwide, now part of S&P Global, he worked at several research companies and was schooled in finance at a Tier 1 supplier. He regularly consults with industry executives and presents at global OEM and supplier conferences/symposiums and is widely quoted by worldwide media on a variety of critical industry topics.Michael holds an undergraduate degree in economics and an MBA, both from the University of Windsor, Canada.
