Covered Bonds 2020 Outlook

S&P Global Ratings recently published Covered Bonds Harmonization Set To Raise The Bar In 2020. This outlook piece looks at the latest developments in the covered bonds markets, including the rise of sustainable issuance, the expansion into new markets, and our ratings outlook. Despite a slowing eurozone economy and lower rates forecast, European covered bond issuance could rise by 5% to 10%, given a rise in scheduled maturities and despite issuers’ renewed access to cheap central bank funding.
