Green Evaluation: Royal Schiphol Group €500 Million Green Bond, Oct. 1, 2018

On October 22, 2018, Royal Schiphol Group N.V. (Schiphol) issued a €500 million green bond at a coupon rate of 1.5%, maturing in 2030. This is the first green-labeled bond that Schiphol has issued. The company raised the proceeds under its €3 billion medium-term note program and plans to use the proceeds to improve the energy-efficiency of its airport terminals and pier buildings, commercial and other real estate, build new energy-efficient buildings as well as invest in clean transportation assets and infrastructure at its airport in the region of Amsterdam, the Netherlands. In our opinion, this transaction is aligned with the Green Bond Principles 2018 (GBP).
