Dr. Joanne Warner

Independent Director, First Quantum Minerals & Geo40 Limited

Dr Warner has more than 20 years experience investing in metals, mining and energy as both an analyst, portfolio manager and finally as Head of Global Resources for Colonial First State Global Asset Management. During this time she made over 400 visits to mines and operations in 42 countries. She is an Independent Director of international copper miner First Quantum Minerals and Geo40 Limited, a pioneering company focused on the extraction of silica and other minerals from geothermal fluids. Prior to joining the mining finance sector Dr Warner was a part-time lecturer in Physics and Chemistry at The University of Technology, Sydney (UTS).

Dr Warner has a degree in Applied Chemistry from the University of Technology, Sydney where she won the University Medal. Awarded a bursary for full time postgraduate study from the British Council, she completed a D.Phil at the University of Oxford in Chemical Crystallography. In 2007 she was awarded Mining Fund Manager of the Year at the Mines and Money Conference in London and in 2016 was named one of ‘100 Global Inspirational Women in Mining’ by Women in Mining (UK).
