Francois-Xavier Saint-Macary

Chairman and Cofounder of Ingenesis

François-Xavier is a consultant and project developer with 30 years' experience in various areas, with a strong focus on commodities and environmental markets.

He combines experiences and extensive business network in the natural resources sector (mining, metals, energy, industrial) along with energy efficiency and renewables. Since the creation of Ingenesis he has led several missions linked to acquisitions, new markets, and financing.

Prior to that François-Xavier spent 23 years in Société Générale Investment Banking including positions in foreign countries : Sydney, Tokyo, New-York. His main assignment in SGCIB has been Global Head of Commodities Markets for 15 years. During this time he contributed actively to the inception of Intercontinental Exchange – The ICE, now the largest Commodities Exchange in the world – and the creation of two joint-ventures: Orbeo, the innovative carbon market company, collaborating with Rhodia, the specialty chemical group, and Gaselys, the energy trading company with GDF Suez. At the bank, in 2009 he took care of family holdings as senior banker.

In 2010 he moved to Bluenext, a climate exchange – subsidiary of NYSE Euronext and CDC Climat - to work as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer during 2 years.

François-Xavier is a graduate of the French Business School Ecole Supérieure de Commerce de Bordeaux and a former student of Escuela Superior de Administracion de las Empresas (Barcelona).
