The US Energy Information Administration is losing its top career official, and senior oil editors Meghan Gordon and Brian Scheid spoke with Howard Gruenspecht before he departed. Gruenspecht, the acting administrator since January and deputy administrator since 2003, is departing for the MIT Energy Initiative and spoke with Capitol Crude about both crude and refined oil products as seen through Hurricane Harvey’s impacts, declining US net import dependence and the crisis in Venezuela.
