Newly proposed US sanctions on Russia target energy projects, like pipelines and crude oil production, and also provide new sanctions on mining, metals and other parts of the energy industry. But big questions remain about whether the sanctions will be passed into law or imposed.

Additionally, Elizabeth Rosenberg, senior fellow and director of the energy, economics and security program at the Center for a New American Security and a former senior advisor at the US Treasury Department, talks about why this sanctions package, as proposed, could set a dangerous precedent and could have disastrous consequences.
