In its letter Friday, LyondellBasell said that on April 4 its Lake Charles polypropylene plant suffered a breakage of an extruder and that it was working to assess the impact on its ability to supply polypropylene from the site.

"Additional information will be provided once we have assessed our ability to supply," LyondellBasell said.

A company spokesman could not immediately be reached for comment.

The Lake Charles polypropylene facility houses two PP lines with a combined capacity of 667,000 my/year.
