S&P Global Platts assessed ethanol RINs for 2018 compliance at 32.25cents/RIN Wednesday, down 7.75 cents from Tuesday and their lowest level sinceSeptember 2015 when Platts assessed at 30 cents/RIN.

Biodiesel RINs for 2018 compliance were assessed at 56.50 cents/RIN, down5.5 cents and lowest since November 2015 when Platts assessed at 55.5cents/RIN.

The market saw initial drops Wednesday morning on news the EPA granted ahardship waiver to Andeavor, a major refiner, exempting three of the company'srefineries from having to comply with the US blending mandate for 2016.

Prices slid further as the market reacted to reports that roughly 25refineries had been granted hardship exemptions for 2017 by the EPA, a muchlarger number than in previous years.

Biofuel industry supporters have said that waivers could be used toundermine federal blending requirements and reduce demand for RINs.

The EPA uses RINs to track fulfillment of the its renewable fuel blendingmandate by obligated parties.

RINs prices fall when blenders expect to need fewer of the credits tocomply to the standards.
