Platts starts publishing pricing heards for North Americas Renewable Energy Certificate markets

S&P Global Platts has started collecting and publishing pricing information heard in the North Americas Renewable Energy Certificate (REC), Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI), and California Carbon Allowance (CCA) markets.

The data includes completed transactions, firm bids and offers, and indicative values.

The data is gathered by surveying active market participants throughout the day, and any market participant is also able to submit data to electricityprice@spglobal.com.

Surveyed market prices are published as real-time headlines, or "market heards", on Platts Electricity Alert (PEA) and Platts Americas Gas & Power Alert (AGP) page 1106.

The heards include all specifications known about the transaction, bid, offer or indicative value received, including delivery location, delivery data, price and volume.

For example, Platts Electricity, MA REC Class I: Deal heard done at $40/REC, Vintage 2021, Expiration Dec. 2021: intermediary source.

Published heards will not be incorporated into Platts weekly REC assessment at this time.

The underlying methodology for the REC markets remains unchanged and its full description can be found here: https://www.spglobal.com/platts/PlattsContent/_assets/_files/en/our-methodology/methodology-specifications/usrec.pdf.

Platts publishes heards across various commodity markets across the world as a means of verifying the heard information and soliciting market feedback about price repeatability and representativeness.
