Platts clarifies typical loading practices for FOB NWE, FOB Med butane coaster assessments

S&P Global Platts wishes to clarify that its FOB NWE Seagoing butane (PMAAL00) and FOB West Med butane coaster (PMAAM00) assessments reflect typical market practice with regard to loading, and the establishment of quality and quantity.

Platts FOB assessments reflect standard FOB practices, where the quality and quantity are established at loadport. In the FOB butane markets in Europe, additionally, Platts has observed that binding quality and quantity may also be established via a ship's composite, depending on the prevailing standard at the nominated loadport. In these markets, Platts reflects bids, offers and trades where loading occurs from a single or multiple shore tanks containing streams of butane as per established practices at the nominated loadport. Additionally, Platts understands that these markets typically have a standard laytime of 24 plus 6 hours.
