Following industry feedback, S&P Global Platts has aligned the timing specifications of metallurgical coal assessments across varying grades, effective Sept. 14, 2021.
Industry feedback received was supportive of the proposal (https://bit.ly/3zlCmD6), and all Platts FOB Australia metallurgical coal assessments will represent cargoes loading in 7-60 days, and delivery timing for the assessments with CFR China incoterms to delivery in 20-75 days.
Currently, the timing specifications of FOB Australia assessments represent cargoes loading 7-45 days, and delivery timing for the assessments with CFR China incoterms to delivery in 20-65 days.
The change of timing specification of assessment aims to better align the loading and delivery timing of various metallurgical coal price assessments with the specifications of Platts Premium Low Vol HCC FOB Australia and Platts Premium Low Vol HCC CFR China defined in Platts methodology.
On April 1, 2021, timing specifications of PLV FOB Australia assessments were adjusted to represent cargoes loading 7-60 days, and delivery timing for the assessments with CFR China incoterms to delivery in 20-75 days.
