Platts launches balance-of-month assessment for Chicago ethanol derivative

Effective April 1, 2021, S&P Global Platts has launched a daily Chicago ethanol balance-of-month (balmo) derivative assessment.

The assessment will be published from the first publishing day through and including the 15th of every month as an outright value in cents/gal, basis 1:30 pm Central time.

The derivative assessment will reflect the Platts Market on Close assessment process spot value of the Chicago ethanol (Platts) futures, listed on the Chicago Mercantile Exchange.

Platts may use balmo and already-published prompt month derivatives when assessing the US ethanol markets through the calculation of various forward strips and differentials.
