Platts to discontinue retrospective Qatar OSP differentials from April 1, 2020

S&P Global Platts will discontinue the publication of retrospective official selling price differentials for Qatar Land and Qatar Marine crude grades, with effect from April 1, 2020.

The differentials are currently published under codes AAIQO00 for Qatar Land and AAIQP00 for Qatar Marine in the Platts price database and on Platts Global Alert page 1067 alongside the grades' respective outright OSPs.

The differentials reflect the respective OSP's spread to Platts' front-month Oman crude assessments for the month of loading.

The discontinuation follows a change in Qatar's OSP price mechanism. From February 2020, Qatar started setting prospective OSP differentials for both the grades against monthly averages of Platts Dubai and Platts Oman crude assessments for the month of loading.

On January 17, Platts announced that it will publish the new prospective OSP differentials under the codes OSQLP00 for Qatar Land and OSQMP00 for Qatar Marine:

The outright OSPs, which will be calculated using the monthly averages of Platts Dubai and Platts Oman crude assessments, will be published under the existing codes AAINK00 for Qatar Land and AAINL00 for Qatar Marine.
