Platts proposes to revise European caustic soda FOB location and cargo size

S&P Global Platts is proposing the following changes to the location and cargo size specifications of its weekly European caustic soda export spot price assessment, effective April 7, 2020.

Basis and location: Platts is proposing to widen its assessment location from a FOB Rotterdam basis to a FOB NWE basis, to reflect other active export ports in the Northwest Europe region, with Rotterdam remaining the largest by volume of business.

Standard cargo size: Platts is proposing to reduce the minimum cargo size from 10,000 dmt to 2,000 dmt, to better reflect typical volumes.

The proposed specification change would affect the following:

Code Description

AANTF00 Caustic Soda FOB NWE Weekly

Platts European caustic soda assessments appear in Solventswire, on Platts Petrochemical Alert pages 243, 380 and 391, and in the Platts price database under the code listed above.

Platts invites feedback on the proposals to pl_petchems_ln@spglobal.com with copy to pricegroup@spglobal.com by February 25, 2020.
