Platts launches weekly ethylene freight assessment for US Gulf Coast to NE Asia

S&P Global Platts will begin publishing weekly spot freight assessments for ethylene from the US Gulf Coast to Northeast Asian ports with effect from Jan. 8, 2021.

The assessment will reflect the freight rate for ethylene transported from the US Gulf Coast to Northeast Asia in $/mt, with a volume range of 9,000-12,000 MT. Platts will consider data for assessment purposes which includes but is not limited to transactions, bids and offers. The prices will be quoted in $/mt, and reflect the prevailing market value at 1:30 pm CT weekly on Fridays.

The Northeast Asia ports will include Korea (Daesan, Ulsan, Yeosu), Taiwan (Kaohsiung, Mailiao), Japan (Mizushima, Chiba, Tokuyama, Kashima, Ube, Oita, Yokkaichi, Kawasaki); and China (Shanghai, Ningbo, Nantong). The assessment will be published on Platts Petrochemical Alert page 417, in the Petrochemical Service on the Platts Platform, in the Platts pricing database under the following symbol:
