"Gazprom Neft Marine Bunker [the company's marine fuel section] is working on something unique for the industry, the construction of Russia's first LNG bunker barge by 2020," the statement said, citing the company's board of directors.
The company is also participating in forming favorable conditions for delivering LNG bunkering at Russian ports and on appropriate legislation.
In the Baltic, the company will use LNG and diesel and expects LNG to become the dominant fuel in the market in northwest Russia, the company had said in March.
Overall, Gazpromneft Marine Bunker estimates the LNG bunkering market will grow from 100,000 mt in 2020-2022 to 300,000-400,000 mt by 2025.
