Pumping was suspended Tuesday after a pipeline leak was detected in the Volga region.

"The repair work is completed? the pipeline is being filled with crude currently," the spokesman Igor Dyomin said.

Transneft expects pumping will be restored fully by midday local time (0900 GMT), he said.

The oil leak was small and is not expected to cause a serious threat to the environment or people living nearby, according to Transneft.

The incident has not affected crude loadings at the port, which had sufficient reserves in oil tanks to maintain operations for three days.

Operations at the port, however, have been regularly hit by bad weather. Most recently, the loadings were suspended briefly on Wednesday due to thick fog, Dyomin said. The loadings were resumed late Wednesday when the fog lifted, he said.

The oil leak on the Kuybyshev-Tikhoretsk pipeline was detected at around 2:00 pm local time Tuesday, 5 km from the village of Mayanga in the Saratov region.
