By December 4 the country had harvested 88 million mt of wheat, 12.1 million mt more than at the same point last year, the ministry said.

Russia has also harvested 21.7 million mt of barley, up 2.6 million mt year on year, and 12 million mt of corn, down 2.1 million mt. The corn harvest was affected by a delay to the start of harvesting and unfavorable weather conditions.

With the record harvest, exports are expected to also reach a record level.

Russia is set to export around 45 million mt of grains in the 2017-18 marketing year, of which 35 million mt will be wheat, according to Agriculture Minister Alexander Tkachev.
