New Delhi — The Pro Farmer Midwest Crop Tour, which started Monday, has estimated corn yields for seven districts in Illinois to be at 171.17 bushels per acre for the marketing year 2019-2020 (September-August), down 13.15% year on year, S&P Global Platts Analytics said in its report.

Register NowAt 171.7 bu/acre, the yield estimate for Illinois is also lower than the three-year average of 190.89 bu/acre, and five-year average of 186.21 bu/acre.
Yield estimates for corn from the 11 stops in Illinois ranged from 107 bu/acre to 217 bu/acre, said Peter Meyer, head of grain and oilseed analytics at Platts Analytics in the report.
The US Department of Agriculture's yield forecast for the region is 181 bu/acre, which is down 13.8% on the year.
So far, the Crop Tour has estimated yields for Indiana, Nebraska, Ohio and South Dakota, and all the states are projected to have lower corn yields compared to last year.
Planting of corn was delayed in most parts of the US by two to three weeks, delaying the maturity of the crop and putting pressure on yields.
The Crop Tour will release complete corn yield numbers for Iowa and Minnesota on Friday, the report said.
