S&P Global Platts, the leading independent provider of information and benchmark prices for the commodities and energy markets, today announced the appointment of Dr. Kang Wu, as Head of Asia Analytics. Kang commences his role today, meeting customers and market participants at the S&P Global Platts APPEC conference in Singapore.
Based in Singapore, Kang will report to Chris Midgley, Global Head of Analytics Content and will provide leadership to the growing Analytics team in Asia, develop an integrated commodities view in the region and help grow the business in the East.
Kang joins S&P Global Platts from KASPARC, an institution established by King Abdullah of Saudi Arabia. Kang was responsible for managing the markets and industrial development program for research on global oil, gas and coal markets with special focuses on Asia and the Middle East, energy policies, economic modeling and China energy sector developments.
From 2014 to 2017 Kang was Vice Chairman and Managing Director for FGE in Asia, a global oil and gas consultancy, covering a variety of related economic, energy and environmental developments in Asian, Middle Eastern and Pacific Island countries. Kang has also held senior consultant and director roles in energy research across Asia, the Pacific and Latin America. Kang received his Ph.D. in Economics from the University of Hawaii at Manoa (UHM).

S&P Global Platts Analytics combines in-depth commodity and energy market knowledge, analysis and algorithms with fundamental data to support customers' strategic decisions. It encompasses organic businesses developed within Platts as well as acquisitions, including PIRA Energy, RigData, Eclipse Energy, cFlow and Bentek Energy.
