EQT to add telecommunication services provider Melita to portfolio

EQT Partners AB agreed to purchase Melita from middle-market investor Apax Partners LLP and venture capitalist Fortino Capital.

Melita is a Malta-based diversified telecommunication infrastructure and services provider. It will continue to be led by CEO Harald Rösch, who is also an industrial adviser for EQT.

EQT said it will back Melita's plans to upgrade its fixed and mobile networks, build an additional data center in Malta, expand in international markets such as in Italy, and develop its internet-of-things connectivity proposition.

The acquisition, the terms of which were not disclosed, will be made through the Swedish investor's EQT Infrastructure IV fund and is contingent on regulatory approvals.

Clifford Chance and Ganado Advocates were legal advisers to the EQT Infrastructure fund.
