MC Digital Realty to buy Tokyo land parcel for 120-MW development

Digital Realty Trust Inc. agreed to acquire additional land in Tokyo's Inzai data center cluster to support the development of a 38-megawatt data center facility, NRT10.

The acquisition is expected to close in the first quarter of 2020. No financial terms were disclosed.

The land is close a five-acre parcel MC Digital Realty already owns in the cluster. The two areas will be combined to build a connected campus with a total expected capacity of over 120 MW.

MC Digital Realty will construct the 36-MW NRT11 as the first building on the new land parcel under its Tokyo Connected Campus @ Inzai development roadmap. It will be followed by the development of the 30-MW NRT12 and the 18-MW NRT13 facilities, subject to customer demand.

MC Digital Realty is a 50/50 joint venture between Mitsubishi Corp. and Digital Realty. It provides clients in Japan with a platform to host their digital assets.

Digital Realty supports the data center, colocation and interconnection strategies of firms across its portfolio of data centers.
