Normalized net income excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis.
The normalized profit margin rose to negative 0.0% from negative 2.8% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 7.9% year over year to $83.0 million from $76.9 million, and total operating expenses climbed from the prior-year period to $83.0 million from $80.3 million.
Reported net income came to a loss of $1.3 million, or a loss of 6 cents per share, compared to a loss of $4.2 million, or a loss of 16 cents per share, in the year-earlier period.
