Aviva Plc reported a mean hourly gender pay gap of 28.5% and a median hourly pay gap of 27.6%, while its mean and median bonus pay gaps stood at 57.2% and 40.5%, respectively.
The British insurer said the most significant challenges relating to the gender pay gap are the higher number of women in more junior roles and the fewer number of women in management roles. Aviva also noted that there are more men in sales and distribution roles, which usually get more bonus opportunities.
To bridge the gap, Aviva said it would focus on the areas of recruitment, training, development and progression and retention.
