1 worker dead in accident at Freeport LNG construction site in Texas

A worker died in an accident at the construction site of Freeport LNG Development LP on Quintana Island near Freeport, Texas, a spokesman for the partnership confirmed in an email to S&P Global Market Intelligence on March 2.

The accident, which occurred the afternoon of March 1, is still under investigation, spokesman Zdenek Gerych said in the email. The man worked for a subcontractor employed by Freeport LNG's engineering, procurement and construction contractor, Zachry Group.

The Freeport LNG export terminal would have three liquefaction trains with a combined liquefaction capacity of 15 million metric tonnes per year, with a fourth train under development. The three trains are expected to be completed in 2019.
