O'Reilly Automotive Inc. said its first-quarter normalized net income came to $2.04 per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of $1.93 per share.
EPS rose 28.4% year over year from $1.59.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was $210.8 million, a gain of 22.7% from $171.8 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin rose to 11.1% from 9.9% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 10.1% year over year to $1.90 billion from $1.73 billion, and total operating expenses grew 7.7% year over year to $1.55 billion from $1.44 billion.
Reported net income increased 22.3% year over year to $212.7 million, or $2.06 per share, from $174.0 million, or $1.61 per share.
