Seihyo fiscal Q4 loss widens 13.8% YOY

Seihyo Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended Feb. 28 was a loss of ¥112.75 per share, compared with a loss of ¥99.06 per share in the year-earlier period.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of ¥46.3 million, compared with a loss of ¥40.6 million in the year-earlier period.

The normalized profit margin declined to negative 8.6% from negative 7.6% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue came to ¥538.0 million, compared with ¥535.0 million in the prior-year period, and total operating expenses increased year over year to ¥619.0 million from ¥608.0 million.

Reported net income totaled a loss of ¥122.0 million, or a loss of ¥297.42 per share, compared to a loss of ¥81.0 million, or a loss of ¥197.51 per share, in the prior-year period.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled a loss of ¥97.51 per share, compared with a loss of ¥47.21 per share in the prior year.

Normalized net income was a loss of ¥40.0 million, compared with a loss of ¥19.4 million in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue declined year over year to ¥3.41 billion from ¥3.58 billion, and total operating expenses decreased on an annual basis to ¥3.50 billion from ¥3.65 billion.

The company said reported net income came to a loss of ¥119.0 million, or a loss of ¥290.10 per share, in the full year, compared with a loss of ¥76.0 million, or a loss of ¥185.19 per share, the prior year.

As of May 27, US$1 was equivalent to ¥123.75.
