Tajik, Chinese JV to start mining antimony, gold in Tajikistan from 2020

A Tajik-Chinese joint venture firm will start mining antimony from 2020 at the Konchoch deposits in Tajikistan, Reuters reported Aug. 27.

TALCO Gold, jointly owned by Tajikistan's Tajik Aluminium Co., or TALCO, and China's Tibet Huayu Mining Co. Ltd., plans to eventually increase production to 10% of the global output of antimony.

The joint venture will also produce gold. Commercial production will begin March 2020, according to TALCO spokesman Igor Sattarov.

TALCO Gold is targeting annual output of 2.2 tonnes of gold, 15,000 tonnes of antimony and 6,000 tonnes of antimony oxide.
