Renault SA will invest more than €1 billion to increase the development and production of its electric vehicles in France.
The automaker plans to double production of ZOE electric cars at its Flins plant and triple electric motor production at its Cleon factory, the company said in a statement.
It also intends to create a second electric vehicle production site in Douai and produce the next Kangoo models at its Maubeuge plant.
Renault previously said it plans to hire 5,000 employees on permanent contracts in France between 2017 and 2019, and spend €235 million on training over the same period.
