KP Tissue fiscal Q1 loss narrows YOY

KP Tissue Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal first quarter ended March 27 amounted to a loss of 3 Canadian cents per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 12 cents per share.

The per-share loss decreased 43.3% year over year from 5 cents.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was a loss of C$236,250, compared with a loss of C$411,250 in the prior-year period.

Reported net income totaled a loss of C$1.5 million, or a loss of 16 cents per share, compared to a loss of C$637,000, or a loss of 7 cents per share, in the prior-year period.
